What is Data Protection?

Data protection is the process of protecting and safeguarding data against loss, corruption, or illegal access, while also providing the means to restore the data to a functional state in the event something happens which renders the data unusable or inaccessible.

The data protection process ensures that data is not corrupted, is accessible for authorized purposes only, and is stored in compliance with all applicable legal and regulatory requirements. This process is usually accomplished using backup software.

What is ransomware?

Ransomware is a type of malicious software, also known as malware, which prevents users from accessing their computer systems, networks, or files by locking access to systems or more commonly today, by encrypting files and folders on local and attached drives on stand-alone or networked computers and then demands payment of a ransom to regain access to your data.

What is immutability?

Immutability is the characteristic of an object with a fixed structure and properties whose values cannot be changed.

What is Recovery Point Objective (RPO)?

Recovery Point Objective (RPO) generally refers to the amount of data that can be lost within a time frame most relevant to a business before the business suffers significant harm, measured from the occurrence of the critical event to the most recent backup. RPO basically indicates the data loss tolerance of a business process or the organization as a whole.

What is Recovery Time Objective (RTO)?

Recovery Time Objective (RTO) refers to the amount of time a company can afford to spend recovering its systems and data after a crash or outage, without suffering significant damage to the business. This includes the time to recover applications as well as their data.
